MEOWING MUSICAL
- Cats - The Musical, Albury Entertainment Centre, Tix from $45
It’s one of the great pieces of musical theatre - and now it’s the Albury Wodonga Theatre Company’s turn to bring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats to life. Based on T.S. Eliot’s collection of poems Old Possum’s Books of Practical Cats, enjoy the trials and tribulations of the Jellicle Cats as they decide who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer. Ticket prices vary depending on which session you attend so be sure to check in with the box office.
GERMAN TASTES
- Wangaratta Oktoberfest, Saturday & Sunday, 11am to 11pm, The Malt Shed
The Malt Shed brewery will play host to Wangaratta's first ever Oktoberfest this Saturday and Sunday. Running between 11am and 11pm both days, get down to the Tone Road beer hall some of the region's best locally brewed beverages and smoked meats, pretzels, kranskies and wings. Be sure to get your tickets to receive your stein for the day!
SLAMMIN’ SALAMI
- The Victorian Salami Festival, Dal Zotto Wines, Saturday October 6. Tix
If you're down Wangaratta way this weekend but beer isn't your thing, making the trip out to Dal Zotto Wines might be the next best option. Kicking off with a salami deonstration by the Meat Room's James Mele, there will be plenty off fine food and wine going around. Accompanied by live music and the announcement of the Il Salame Perfetto, this is an experience not to be missed. This is a ticket event, which includes a three-course lunch and complimentary glass of Dal Zotto Pink.
CAMPING OUT
- Scarecrow -The Mellencamp Show, Albury SS&A, Saturday from 9pm
They've been given high praise by the man himself – so you know these guys are going to be good. A tribute to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Mellencamp, Scarecrow has been described as one of the most authentic and musically accurate interpretations of the 'Jack and Diane’ and ‘Hurts So Good’ singer's work. A night of nostalgia will be topped off by a highly energetic performance from the charismatic Gary Young.
DANCE FEVER
- Corowa Festival of Dance, October 4-8, 88 Sanger St, Tix from $18
Now in its 14th year, the Corowa Festival is once again in full swing (pardon the pun). This Saturday and Sunday mark the high points of the festival, with a day of casual dance on Saturday followed by the Festival Ball that evening, featuring Patti Bond and Tony Gilbert, as well as New Vogue Sequence Dance Music. Sunday is also a must see, with a modern and new vogue workshop running from 10am to midday.
