The returning Socceroos coach has named a 25-man squad for a training camp in Dubai next week and the friendly with the Middle Eastern minnows on Tuesday October 16 (AEDT) on the road to January's Asian Cup.

Included is Scottish defector Martin Boyle, a teammate of Mark Milligan and Jamie Maclaren at Hibernian.

Boyle, a 25-year-old right-sided attacker, has caps at youth level for Scotland and will take part in the camp as he awaits international clearance.

Arnold's first Socceroos squad since returning to the job, and the international retirement of Mile Jedinak, features a sprinkling of new talent.

Right-back Josh Risdon should return to the role he performed ably in Russia, while 21-year-old defender Deng has been called up from the Olyroos.

The Kenyan-born stopper impressed in Victory's run to last year's championship and has been fast-tracked into Socceroos reckoning.

Teenage star Daniel Arzani returns, as does 21-year-old left back Alex Gersbach, who Arnold coached at Sydney FC before his move to Europe.

Europe-based Genreau, 19, and Mabil, 23, could also debut.

Arnold said the new faces were every chance to see game time if they showed they were up to the task in training.

"I'm expecting to win the game. It's about making a statement," he said.

"I'm really excited about it ... I can't wait to get into camp and get working again with the players."

We get to make six subs over there. It won't be experimental. It'll be players that deserve to play and those that perform well in the training sessions (will play)."

There are six from the World Cup squad who aren't in the side.

Jedinak, Tim Cahill and James Meredith have left Socceroos reckoning; Jamie Maclaren (back) and Andrew Nabbout (shoulder) are injured and Arnold believes Dimi Petratos is underdone.

James Troisi, Bailey Wright and Josh Brillante are among those unlucky to miss out.

Arnold will also use the camp to audition potential replacements for Jedinak.

"We've got two camps in front of us before the Asian Cup and I'll use those camps and three games to maybe use different players as captains," he said.

The Kuwait friendly, one of at least three on the road to January's defence of the Asian Cup, also now has a venue - the 18,500-capacity Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium.

The kick-off time of 7:30pm (3:30am AEDT) means the match is likely to be played in around 36-degree heat.
