After going down to their opponents 12-4 in the preliminary rounds, Craig Blackhall’s side came out with a point to prove and raced to a 10-0 lead at half-time.
They ran their bigger opposition ragged in the warm conditions with Blackhall describing the win as “a complete team performance”.
“The girls were great,” Blackhall said.
“I wouldn’t like to single anyone out.
“We only had eight players at the start of the carnival but the girls pulled together and were terrific today.
“We were a smaller, quicker side than some of the others.”
Albury Thunder lost last year’s under-16 final to Griffith.
In the open final, Yenda scored in the dying seconds to defeat Central Storm 10-4.
One of Thunder’s sides lost in the semi-finals while the other bowed out in the preliminary rounds.
Organiser Rick O’Connell declared the second annual carnival a success.
“The standard was terrific and we had a lot of people come through the gates,” O’Connell said.
Over $8000 prizemoney was handed out.
