After kicking 111 goals for the Bulldogs this season, Castles has made “a spur of the moment” decision and agreed to play under Brent Lillis.
Castles has played 106 matches for Yackandandah and 95 for Jindera during his career as well as having a stint with Albury.
He has kicked 487 goals for the Tallangatta and District league club.
“It all happened pretty quickly,” Castles said.
“I just feel more comfortable at Yack.
“I have a lot of good friends there who have kids the same age as mine.
“I want them to grow up together.
“That was the main pull that got me there.”
Castles has been a prolific goalkicker for Yackandandah and Jindera with his form during September helping the Bulldogs into the grand final against Brock-Burrum.
He was also on Barnawartha’s radar.
Lillis said the Roos were thrilled to sign Castles.
“At times we struggled to kick scores this year so it was a bit of a no-brainer that we would try and get him back at some stage,” Lillis said.
“We’re really happy.
“We are coming from a fair way back but we identified the need to get more strength and size into the side and Trent is going to help with that.”
Castles will play at Yackandandah without any coaching responsibilities.
The Roos finished ninth with four wins this year but shape as a big improver with several recruits in the pipeline.
