Giampietro Francioli appeared before Wodonga Magistrates Court on Wednesday after allegedly firing two shots at a man on May 4.
The court heard forensic reports about gun residue still needed to be created ahead of a contested hearing in November.
Lawyer Geoff Clancy said his client would apply for bail at the Benalla Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
