A petition to save the two footbridges at Wangaratta Railway Station has been launched by Ovens Valley MP Tim McCurdy.

Its preference was to replace the Docker and Cusack street bridges with one higher bridge, but Wangaratta Council will ask for the track to be lowered instead.
Mr McCurdy said the ARTC plan indicates they may be replaced by one footbridge with steps and twin-shafted elevators at either end.
“This petition calls on the ARTC to consider other viable alternatives than those proposed that will allow the current footbridges to be saved,” he said.
The petition can be signed at his Murphy St office, the Wangaratta Show, APCO service station, Paulie’s Corner Café and the Flagpole Store.
