A new sculpture will soon be placed at the entryway into the town of Chiltern, and Indigo Council are looking for public help to choose the design.

Three options have been shortlisted and released for public comment.
The first from Simon Pankhurst would be a three to four-metre high piece of work made out of metalic materials. Taking inspiration from children’s drawings about Chiltern, it would have a strong focus on happy people.
Sculptor Xavier Pinard’s design would be a four-metre-high gold mining spade onto which a couple of regent honeyeaters are perched looking at their surroundings.
“The old fashioned miner's spade solidly dug into the earth is a metaphor for the foundation on which the town was born, gold mining,” he said.
The design from Bush Projects is a reference to both the urban streetscapes of Chiltern and the landscape of Mt Pilot National Park.
“The landscape raises gently behind the wall to allow vegetation to be seen, which lifts the grasses and flowering species up above the urban elements,” the description stated.
