Officers were initially called to a domestic-related incident at a Kemp Street address about 11.35pm on Friday.
On arrival of police, a 38-year-old man armed with a knife locked himself in the home.
A 37-year-old woman was able to leave the home uninjured.
Police established a perimeter, with specialist police and negotiators attending.
Just before 5am on Saturday, specialist officers from the State Protection Group forced entry to the home and arrested the man without incident.
He was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with use of an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and breach of bail.
He was denied bail and will appear in court on Monday.
