Morris, who shapes as one of the signings of the season after making over 300 runs for CAW club Albury in 2016-17, made a half-century in the team’s score of 272.
Nick Molkentin and Alex McMaster also batted well in a side which will be strengthened by the return of skipper Craig Mabon next weekend.
Burrumbuttock could only manage 71 in reply with Damian Wardius taking three wickets.
“It was a good way to start the season,” Tiger Mason Collins said.
“Nick’s going to be a really good player for us.
“They all just like the country style of cricket.”
Holbrook started its 150th anniversary season in style by defeating Osborne by eight wickets at Holbrook.
Spinner Will Heriot took 4-15 to help restrict the visitors to 9-116 while Corey McCarthy (51 not out) and Andrew Mackinlay (42) made light work of the chase.
Port Adelaide footballer Dougal Howard made a cameo appearance for Osborne, bowling six overs and taking two catches.
Henty captain Mark White hit 95 not out in his team’s win over TRYC.
Chasing 4-168, White batted superbly with support coming from Bailey Martin (34) and Shannon Terlich (23 not out).
Rand’s wealth of batting depth was decisive in its three-wicket win over Walla with Mark and Chris Kreutzberger, Will Swift and Clinton Ralston all in the runs.
Tommy Simmons (47) and Mark Taylor (46) helped the Hoppers make a respectable 9-175.
Culcairn’s Steve Brand scored 79 in the Lions’ comfortable win over Lockhart.
