Maher polled 82 votes to score a runaway victory in Saturday night’s count from runners-up Michael Sims and Josh Senior on 47.
The former Albury premiership coach played every match and has signed on for another season at Urana Road Oval.
“We didn’t win as many games as we would have liked but hopefully the group can stay together as we have some pretty handy young blokes pushing through,” Maher said.
“I didn’t think we were far off in a number of games this season.”
Maher’s signing is a huge boost for the Murray Magpies with many rival clubs targeting him since the end of the season.
Ruckman Tom Osmotherly (26) and defender Hayden Edwards (24) rounded out the top-five.
Coach Phil Packer has stood down from the helm with Brett Argus taking over.
Murray Magpies finished on the bottom of the ladder with three wins but are hopeful of landing several recruits in coming weeks.
In the reserves, Shane Butler was victorious.
Gabby Robinson topped the A-grade netball count from Keira Nicholson.
Meanwhile, Mitch Lawrence has capped off a fine season by winning Jindera’s best and fairest award.
He finished ahead of forward Trent Castles.
Sharna Holland and Amy Connors tied in the A-grade netball.
