The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Wodonga Senior Secondary College, Saturday October 20
For the first time in more than 10 years, Wodonga Senior Secondary College has put together a production. A musical comedy, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee tracks the contestants in a small town spelling bee. As the competition goes on, the contestants divulge more about their lives in a touching but hilarious way. There's something for everyone in this return to the stage for these students.
PICTURE PERFECT
Selfie: Amateur and candid photography, Lavington Library
Ubiquitous now, the selfie has technically existed since photography was invented. An interesting and personal glimpse into the lives of their subjects, the Lavington Library is hosting a unique exhibit of amateur photography from the 20th century, examining the relationship between an everyday person and their camera. Boasting a selection of home and street photography from the Museum and Social History Collection, this is an exhibit not to be missed.
JAZZ CATS
Jiving for the Uiver, North Albury Sports Club, Saturday 7pm, Tix $40
Jazz artists Snoopy and the Taildraggers will stop by the North Albury Sports Club on saturday night for Jiving for the Uiver. Hosted by the Uiver Memorial Community Trust, the night aims to raise money for the ongoing Uiver restoration project. Tickets include finger food, while drinks are at bar prices.
HUNGRY BEAST

Enjoy one of the most iconic children's stories brought to life on stage this weekend, as CDP kids and Tall Stories Productions perform The Gruffalo. Follow main character Mouse as she journeys through the deep dark woods, using terrifying tales of the monster Gruffalo to scare away hungry animals. But what will happen when she encounters the very creature she imagined?
SWING KINGS
I.G. Big Swing Band, The Cube, Sunday from 2pm, Tix $33
Settle in for a big afternoon of some of swings everlasting classics. Featuring tunes made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Ella Fitzgerald, Ivan Gellie and his masters of swing are once again in high demand. Tickets have been selling fast, so be sure to get in quick – they're available by phone or online up to two hours before the show.
WALK TOGETHER
Wangaratta Relay for Life, WJ Findlay Oval, starting 2.45pm Saturday, ending 10am Sunday
Very few events can unite a community like the Relay for Life. Organisers of Wangaratta's Relay are sure to be hoping for a massive turnout to help hit their fundraising goal of $80,000. With just over half of that raised so far, make sure you get behind this very worthy cause. twenty-two teams have signed on, make sure you open your wallet and show them your support!
