Artist-in-residence Treahna Hamm taught Falls Creek women in weaving workshops, using ski clothing embellished with endangered flora.
She said they offered people the opportunity to consider Falls Creek’s ancient past and what could be learnt from an Indigenous perspective about people’s connections with land.
“When local knowledge and stories are shared, this builds a strong foundation for collaborating to create artworks,” Dr Hamm said.
“Together, a sense of identity of place and connection to the local landscape can emerge.”
The exhibition launched on Saturday and will hopefully be exhibited in the village through winter 2019.
