The small forward backed the Kangaroos’ continued aggressive approach, saying the arrival of Jared Polec, Aaron Hall, Jasper Pittard and Dom Tyson had been a major coup.
They missed their No.1 target Andrew Gaff who opted to stay with West Coast.
“I think you have to keep going for the big targets,” Turner said.
“It’s not always going to happen, but I reckon the club has taken the right approach by trying to add an extra elite player to the team.
“The players we have picked up will bring something different to the table and add that depth which we haven’t had in recent years.
“I think they will take the load off players like Shaun Higgins, Ben Cunningham and Jed Anderson.”
Turner, who is contracted for the next two seasons, had a solid season finishing 14th in the Kangaroos’ best and fairest count.
It was arguably his most consistent season since arriving at Arden Street in the 2014 rookie draft.
Turner was surprised to be voted Shinboner of the Year by his teammates particularly after star centreman Ben Cunnington won the award in 2017.
“It's a pretty big honour,” he said.
“I was surprised.
“There have been some good winners over the years so it was good.”
While Turner has played more eye-catching football for North Melbourne during his 58-game career, he was pleased with his consistency this year in playing all 22 games.
“I was happy to stay injury-free and not miss games like previous years,” the former Kiewa-Sandy Creek and Wodonga player said.
“The club showed a lot of faith in me which was good.
“I would have liked to hit the scoreboard more but that’s something I’ll work on.”
Turner expects competition for spots to be fierce when training resumes next month with coach Brad Scott achieving his aim of improving the Kangaroos’ midfield depth.
“Depth is probably an area we have struggled in previously,” he said.
