The Benalla product was taken at pick seven by Geelong, who join North Melbourne as the two new clubs to enter in the third season of the competition.
Bushrangers female talent manager Briana Cossar was very pleased for Webster.
“She would have been very excited, especially going in the top-12,” Cossar said.
Wodonga’s Julia Harvey was among a handful of Bushrangers overlooked, but Cossar admitted it’s not the end of the road.
“For our girls going forward, we’ll certainly help guide them to a VFLW club if that’s what they still want to pursue,” Cossar said.
“We’re fortunate we’re aligned with Richmond for our Next Generation Academy and there’s spots on their list where they’ll be able to go and do a pre-season.
“Richmond go into the AFLW in 2020, so our players that didn’t get picked up could play 12 months of VFLW football, which I think would be really beneficial.”
Cossar admitted the future at the Bushrangers is very bright.
“The girls born in 2003 and 2004 and the depth of talent they showcased at our trials day is really exciting,” she said.
“They’ll come through our program, and, in 12 months for some of them and two years for the others, they will be eligible to play under-18 girls football.
“There will be fierce competition going forward.”
The pre-season squad will train twice a week at Cathedral College, Wangaratta.
