Three Kinross employees said they first heard about the locks being changed from The Border Mail and on Wednesday, still had not been contacted by operators Paul Quinn and Norm Birse or told if they had a job.
Single mother Emily was due to work on Thursday.
“It’s really quite a shock, I haven’t heard anything,” she said.
“I would have paid for a babysitter and shown up for my job on Thursday to find a darkened building and no one there.
“I really enjoyed working there, I got on well with the operators, they were really supportive. But it’s been really difficult finding out over Facebook and moreover hearing them claim we’d been told when we hadn’t.”
Emily said despite a Facebook post by Kinross saying they would be reopening on Friday, she didn’t know any staff that would be showing up for their shift.
Another worker, who wished to remain anonymous, said staff weren’t sure whether they would be paid for last week’s work.
“I’ve not had any contact from anyone at work at all,” she said.
“We’re all very confused about the situation.
“It’s put a lot of stress of staff, we haven’t been paid for last week yet.
“We normally get paid on Thursday so we’re all waiting to see if it happens.”

The worker said full-time staff would be especially hurt.
“It was a great work place, it’s taken such a disappointing toll now,” she said.
“I’m unsure if I have a job, I honestly don’t know. I’ve applied for other places.”
While some staff are waiting with bated breath for their pay on Thursday, others have given up hope.
“I’m presuming I’m not being paid,” said another worker who also didn’t wish to be named.
“I’m pretty disappointed. I was pretty close with Paul Quinn and Norm Birse – at work I’d do anything for them.
“To not even get a call or a one-on-one chat on Sunday, it’s pretty disappointing, the whole thing is.”
