Remember the voters?
No, Greg Mirabella, Senator McKenzie is not “a senator by the gift of the Victorian Liberals” (‘Libs fume over office move’, The Border Mail, October 25).

She was elected by the voters of Victoria.
When members of political parties work out that they are meant to represent the citizens of our country, politics will be moving in the right direction.

It’s a gift horse
The calls for a sate of the art racehorse training facility in the style of those in the United Kingdom and Europe would be great for Australian trainers and horses. The location is the question.
Tracks like Wangaratta should be considered for the logistic location and environment for the horses. The Hume Freeway access would allow easy transport into Melbourne and to Sydney tracks.
The wide open spaces and affordable land would allow space and a natural environment for horses in work and spelling.
We all hear governments talk about the need to shift business and what suits a region out of the city and this is a perfect example of what could benefit a region. The talk of where the training facility will be should not focus on outer Melbourne suburbs but a region that is well suited like Wangaratta. There are many race tracks within two hours and there is a constant moving of horses between Sydney and Melbourne so the freeway proximity suits the needs of trainers.
This is an opportunity that local MPs and councilors should see benefits from if we really are aiming to attract investment and business to the North East. The planned or suggested locations are in growth outer suburbs that will not suit a long-term plan. A location like Wangaratta would suit our region and the the racing industry.

Such a disgrace
What a disgrace the sentence given to the girl that left her two dogs to die in inhumane conditions for three weeks (‘Benji and Ruby left to die’, The Border Mail, October 26).
There is no excuse, just outright cruelty. Those dogs would have suffered so much. If you can't look after them, give them to the pound where they will at least have a chance. I am so disgusted that an animal’s life is worth so little. She should never be allowed to have another animal ever.

Give Dan the boot
I have really never been a fan of the political landscape but I can tell you one thing for sure: I can't wait for the 2018 Victorian election to roll up. Daniel Andrews and his toxic socialist left union mates are destroying this once great state.
Example 1: He leads, yes leads, a union rally/march that paralysis Melbourne; so much for impartiality leading all constitutes. Secondly he and his dodgy red shirt mates are proving harder for the police to pin down and interview then Bonny and Clyde.
No amount of sugar coating the unpalatable facts will save Andrews and his socialist comrades bacon this time around.
