He and his band Claymore have played more than their fair share of these festivals, right across the world, and they have no intention of stopping any time soon.
It’s in Beechworth though, that Hutton has taken a special interest.
Whether it’s the allure of a smaller festival, or the North-East’s connection to Australia’s bushranger folklore, the veteran lead singer and guitarist said the Indigo Shire town’s festival was an important one.
“It’s a great town, a great part of Victoria with a lot of history,” Hutton said.
“A lot of the songs we sing relate to the Ned Kelly legends, stories that are all a part of this region.
“The Beechworth Celtic Festival has been going for a few years, it’s had its highs and lows, it’s important to the town of Beechworth.
“It’s important for artists to keep these events going and to build them up.”
Claymore will be joined on the bill by Eric Bogle and Damien Leith, as well as the Glenbrae Celtic Dancers.
Formed in 1976 by Hutton, the band has played at nearly every major festival in Australia – notably the Big Day Out, Queenscliff Music Festival and Perth International Arts Festival, to name a few.
Their brand of unapologetically loud Celtic rock has brought audiences out of their seats and onto the dancefloor for decades.
Combined with Bogle’s acoustic brilliance and Leith’s amazing vocal talent, Hutton said there would be something for everyone on the bill.
“We’re very much international acts, we’ve played all over the world,” he said.
“To have international acts coming to a local Celtic festival is such a huge step up.
“There will be a lot of family favourites that people have come to know in Beechworth, local pubs with great entertainment, it’s a very welcoming festival.”
