At one point, one of the men stares directly at the camera.
Wodonga detectives said on Friday the images were of such good quality that anyone who knew the pair would recognise them from what they saw.
Detective Sen-Constable Justin Foots said it was highly likely the crooks were aged in their late teens.
The break-in happened on the afternoon of Sunday, September 30, just before 4pm.
While some items were stolen, the more significant impact on the business’s owners was the damage the pair inflicted.
“The offenders have forced entry to a storage shed at that location and have stolen some items from the shed,” Sen-Constable Foots said.
“It then appears they’ve made their way to two excavators that were stored on site and have caused some significant damage to the excavators.”
While a value has not been placed on the damage, Sen-Constable Foots said it would be considerable.
“A number of windows have been smashed to the excavators and I understand that’s a significant value to get those repaired and also significant time lost to that company,” he said.
“We’ve got needless vandalism that’s occurring and we’d like to catch up with the offenders that are responsible and discourage them from doing that again.”
One of the young men was carrying a set of bolt cutters, the other possibly with a crowbar, and it appeared they assumed there was no CCTV coverage.
“The site has got some quite good CCTV,” Sen-Constable Foots said.
“And we’re asking members of the public to view that footage and make contact with Wodonga detectives if they recognise either of those offenders.
“We believe this location’s likely been selected as it’s quite isolated and unlikely to come under the attention of nearby residents.”
