A white Holden Apollo sedan allegedly evaded police and drove down the wrong side of the road in Wangaratta about 12.30pm.
Officers commenced a pursuit, and while pursing the vehicle along Mepunga Avenue, near the intersection of Phillipson Street, the fleeing vehicle braked heavily and the highway patrol vehicle crashed into the side of it at slow speed.
Wangaratta Highway patrol Senior Sergeant Darren Wittingslow said officers arrested the two men who were assisting police with their inquiries.
“No police members were injured, which was good, and the two occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for observation,” he said.
The two men, aged 17 and 21, were both from Wangaratta and will be facing traffic-related charges.
