The licensed club posted a profit of $1,503,593 for its financial year ending May 31, slightly up on the $1,500,793 profit from 2017.

“The continued strong financial performance of the business has enabled the club to improve members’ facilities while at the same time reducing non-core debt,” SS&A president Eddie Dunlop said.

“We have also been able to re-negotiate several contracts with key business partners, which will deliver improved financial performance into the future.

“One highlight was the introduction of our street food precinct during the summer months.

“This saw the introduction several new food options for customers and a great alfresco dining atmosphere.

“This was followed by the commencement of works to our ageing kitchen, bistro and cafe areas.

“Positive financial results and operational stability don’t happen without the dedication and efforts of staffing giving their best, both frontline and behind the scenes.”

The kitchen, bistro and cafe works are due to be completed this month.

More than $6.5 million was spent on staffing expenses and a further $3.03 million on advertising, promotion and marketing activities.

The SS&A Club has also announced its first life membership to a female member in Pat Flynn.

A former director, Mrs Flynn was also foundation secretary of the SS&A women’s bowling club and spent 25 years in the position.
