Twelve border collie puppies, nine weeks old, received their first groom at PETstock Wodonga yesterday as the store launched its Christmas fundraising activities.
Six boys with bandanas and six girls sporting flowers milled around in their pen, not always co-operating as a planned photo shoot progressed.
While staff members tested how many border collies could fit in a box, the subjects themselves couldn’t care less.
Eventually three of the dogs, which came from two litters bred by GlenTarella Borders, sat still long enough to be snapped, just.

Puppy trainer and PETstock groomer Lyn Tymczuk said the visitors coped well with their grooming.
“They got bathed, they got blow dried, they got their nails manicured,” she said.
“Most of them are heading off to their new homes as of this weekend.”
PETstock has started its annual Giving Tree, inviting customers to donate to Wodonga Dog Rescue between now and Christmas Eve.
The store’s Santa photos on November 24 will also assist the Border group.
“It just means we can support our local rescues, help them with their burden,” Mrs Tymczuk said.
“Christmas is a bad time, everybody thinks puppies are a great idea as a present and then....”
There are also 2019 calendars/planners that raise funds for PETstock assistance programs such as microchipping.
Media commitments over, the puppies soon discarded their finery and returned to their core business of sniffing, wagging, chewing and being absolutely, impossibly adorable.
