Police continue to investigate the incident, which occurred on Irving Street between 9pm and 9.30pm on November 3.
It's alleged the man was hit with a weapon.
Two people have been charged and police are making further enquiries.
Sergeant Chris Hill said the victim, aged 20, had been taken to Wangaratta hospital for treatment after allegedly being struck with the weapon.
“He had his vehicle stolen by two females, who headed in the Wodonga direction,” he said.
“Last week, a 24-year-old Wodonga female and a 22-year-old Wangaratta male were charged with armed robbery and aggravated carjacking.
“They’ve been remanded in custody to a date in February 2019, to appear at the Wangaratta Magistrates Court.”
The stolen car – a red 2003 model Holden utility – was set alight at Table Top last Monday night.
The woman was arrested in Wodonga last Thursday and the man was arrested in Wangaratta the following day.
“There’s still an outstanding female person of interest interstate,” Sergeant Hill said.
“If there are any witnesses to the incident or anyone who made observations of a red Holden Commodore utility, we'd like to hear from them.”
The victim has been released from hospital.
Sergeant Hill said he had received "significant head and face injuries”.
Such attacks were rare, he said.
The pair will return to court on February 14.
