Beer yoga is coming to the second annual Great Australian Beer Festival in Albury in December.
Festival organisers have joined a Border yoga instructor to introduce people to the on-trend art.
Albury-based Chill Mama Wellness yoga instructor Amy Vaccaro will host four sessions of beer yoga in QEII Square.
“We’re trying to bring some mindfulness into people’s lives,” she said.
“It’s the simple act of doing yoga while doing something else pleasurable like having a beer.
“We’ll consider the all of the processes the beer has been through to get in your hand especially craft beer.
“We’ll also do some simple balancing and have a bit of fun with it.”
Great Australian Beer Festival co-director Michael Ward said beer yoga was a practical way to reduce stress.
“There’s already a relaxed, fun vibe at the fest,” he said.
“People come along to socialise, to try some killer brews, to hang out with mates who want to talk beer with you.
“Why not take it the extra step and try out a session; it’s free?
“Instead of wood flutes mixed with the sounds of whales mating, you’ll get some rock, even hip hop, depending on the instructor’s mood on the day.
“The cool thing about yoga at a festival is that it provides people who might not have stepped foot into a yoga studio before the opportunity to participate.”
The Great Australian Beer Festival runs in QEII Square on December 1 from 1pm to 8pm. The four, 20-minute beer yoga sessions run behind St Matthew’s Church on the hour from 1pm to 4pm.
