The Border campus was named the Australian Large Training Provider of the Year at the Australian Training Awards in Sydney on Thursday night.
In other words, Wodonga TAFE is the best TAFE in the country.
The award caps off what has been a whirlwind period for the TAFE.
Following its success at the Victorian Training Awards, Wodonga TAFE learned it would be the beneficiary of $5 million in funding from the Victorian government, to be shared between the establishment of a new Retail Connection program, as well as $3.2 million to update and modernise 10 other courses.
After beating out Western Australia’s North Metropolitan TAFE and TAFE NSW’s Design Centre in Enmore for the award, Wodonga TAFE CEO Mark Dixon said the award was outstanding recognition for the campus.
“We know what we do at Wodonga TAFE is amazing, but still, it is quite incredible that our TAFE is now recognised as being the best of the best in Australia,” he said.
“The entire team works tirelessly to constantly enhance everything we do for our students and it’s thanks to them that we’ve earned this accolade.
“Our workforce is made up of the most talented, dedicated and selfless people, all giving so much to ensure our students and community has access to the best possible vocational education opportunities available.”
To win the award was no meant feat – the campus went through a rigorous selection process.
This included hosting an Australian Training Awards representative for a day on campus, several in-depth presentations to a judging panel, as well as a presentation.
The campus had to present evidence showing success in five criteria; leading practice in vocational education and training, strategic planning, student, employer and market focus, human resource capability, and partnerships.
