At a special council meeting incumbent mayor Libro Mustica was returned to the top job.
Peter Lawless, who was first elected to council in 2016, will serve as deputy mayor.
Cr Lawless said he’s no stranger to advocating for the community.
He is a long time member and past vice-president of Grains Group Victoria, he has served as president of Burramine Sports Club, president and secretary of Tungamah Football and Netball Club and a member of Burramine CFA for 40 years.

Cr Lawless said he was ‘thrilled and honoured’ to be elected deputy mayor by his fellow councillors.
Mayor Cr Mustica, also elected to council in 2016, said chairing his first council meeting last year was a daunting task that caused a few sleepless nights.
“I am deeply passionate and committed to further advancing the area that I love,” he said.
“We need to continue investing in our people and create a community where our youth can not only get a job – but develop a lifelong career rather than moving away to the city.”
