Gwenneth ($4.60) claimed the $35,000 Snake Gully Flying Handicap (1000m) from Bulala ($2.30F) and Wangaratta trainer Dan McCarthy’s Liberty Song ($9).
It’s the five-year-old’s third win in her last four starts.
“She led all the way, but drew wide and did a fair amount of work to cross, so I thought it was a terrific gutsy win,” Beer said.
“She was a bit underdone and didn’t have a jump-out or trial.
“She’s always been a horse that’s been highly strung and hard to train, I think the surrounds up here have got her quite relaxed and she’s morphed into a different horse.”
Beer recently moved from the Mornington Peninsula.
And Vivendi ($3.40F) edged out Bondo ($6) and Orrstar ($10) in the $32,000 Benchmark 58 (1400m).
The four-year-old won her last start at Corowa on November 5.
