The Corowa export shot a two-under par 70 in Sunday’s final round to finish outright fourth – nine strokes under the card.
All four of Fraser’s rounds at The Lakes Club in Sydney were in red figures, but it wasn’t without its fair share of ups and downs – particularly on the final stretch.
Playing in the final group, Fraser found himself as low as 11-under following three straight birdies on 12, 13 and 14, but unfortunately handed two shots back with a double bogey at 15.
He made three excellent up-and-downs on the 16th, 17th and 18th to ensure he remained in fourth spot.
“That was probably my best chance to win an Australian Open,” Fraser admitted.

“It seemed to be the trend for the whole week, there was plenty of good stuff in there, but enough rubbish to stop the momentum.
“Overall, I’m pretty happy with fourth, I probably would have taken that at the start of the week given my lack of preparation.”
Mexican Abraham Ancer carded a three under-par 69 to maintain his five-stroke overnight lead and win with 16-under par.
Sydney’s Dimitrios Papadatos was outright second on 11-under, while Queenslander Jake McLeod grabbed third at 10-under.
Fraser narrowly missed exemption for next year’s British Open, with the top-three earning the honour.
His next event is the Hong Kong Open on Thursday.
