The Bureau of Meteorology forecast Albury-Wodonga would reach a high of 31 degrees before a thunderstorm reaches the region in the afternoon or evening.

After a sweltering Tuesday, rain is expected until the weekend while temperatures will drop to a maximum of 16 forecast for Thursday.
Snow is predicted at Falls Creek and Mt Hotham from Wednesday to Friday.
