She shared her knowledge at the Birallee Neighbourhood House yesterday, in one of many workshops the not-for-profit community organisation runs for free or at a discounted cost.
“I originally learned so that I could teach my children,” Ms Tansey said.
“Traditionally things are made with native grasses, and you could use many materials – it takes five to six hours to make a basket.”

Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Amanda Skrypczak said numerous workshops were held throughout the year including weekly learn-to-sew sessions.
“We always welcome people to volunteer with us as well – this year we’re aiming to give out 25,000 meals through the Our Table To Yours program, and think we’ll hit that,” she said.
A session on how to make wicking beds will be held today from 11am to 12pm as part of the Albury-Wodonga Sustainable Living Festival, as well as beeswax food wrap workshops next Thursday.
