Hundreds are expected to gather behind the Albury Entertainment Centre on Swift Street at 10.45am to walk down Dean Street to QEII Square, where an event will run until 1.30pm.

It follows the inaugural event in 2017, formed hand-in-hand with sexual assault survivors and Albury Community Health.

Claire Cerveny, who will join performers including Pozer and Marco Dodds as Frankii, became involved in the committee this year.

“I got involved because I wanted to help people who are in similar situations to what I’ve been through,” she said.

“I didn’t really have a lot of support; music was a big saviour of mine.

“I’d like to try and get as many men involved as possible,” she said.

A panel with Phil Cleary and local health workers being held at the Cube on Friday night is hoped to attract men and women, Step Out’s Danny Baxter said.

“If you’re a leader in your organisation or sporting club, you’re driving culture, so you should understand what equality looks like and that’s what the event is about,” he said.

“On Saturday, Phil will also speak and we’re stepping out through the door as per our logo, onto the street, and it’s a show of support just by being present there.”

Community Health’s Kelley Latta encouraged families to attend and use the event as a platform to start a conversation.

“People are seeing the banner and talking about it, and then leading onto age-appropriate conversations – like ‘It’s not okay for people to hurt each other’,” she said,

“Everyone in the community has a part to play in reducing the impact of violence.”
