“Yeah it is, obviously someone new has come in, we’ve had a few tough years and we haven’t gone the same mould, we’ve gone out of the box, which is good, it just reinvigorates everyone,” ruckman Shane Gaston said.
“We’re ready to get into next year, just put the last couple behind us and look what’s in front, not behind.”
One of the league’s best-known clubs, at least outside the league due to its extended periods of success, including the superstar late 1980s-early 1990s outfit, spearheaded by five-time Morris medallist Rob Walker, the Hawks slumped to their worst time in 68 years with a winless wooden spoon.
But the recruitment of Cresswell, who led Wodonga Raiders from second last to finals, was crucial in 45 senior and 40 under 18 players training.
“He said make sure you come here to improve, he definitely set a standard.”
