This Grand Old Lady sits atop a beautiful mountain as a sentinel at The Gorge waiting in all her Old World Grandeur to welcome her visitors. Let us not destroy a truly magnificent Australian Treasure.
Yes money needs to be spent and quickly to restore her to her former glory. Revitalize Manfield Café and leave the truly iconic entrance in its old world state to fit the architecture bestowed upon the building. Do not ruin this beautiful lady.
Think about the Chalet first and forget about a glass walkway over the Gorge, it is truly breathtaking as it is. I think a Gondola up the mountain would attract more visitors.

I applaud doctors
As a local nurse and midwife of over 40 years experience, I applaud our Border doctors stance to make the seat of Benambra marginal. I am sick and tired of watching our health facilities fight for token scraps, while viewing the gourmet feasting, worth up to $500 million, occurring in marginal seats such as Ballarat.
It is time voters thought long and hard about what would be the best for our community. This may involve stepping out of your usual voting comfort zone.

Utter nonsense
Has there been a more stupid idea put forward in regard to the game of AFL than the recent suggestion for a best of three grand final series?
The argument that this will make the game more equal is laughable.
The whole point of a “competition” is to determine who is the best team upon the season’s conclusion. With so many teams in the competition, it is never going to be the case that every team in the competition is a genuine flag contender.
This obsession with making the game more “equal” actually contradicts the definition of a sporting competition, does it not?
If the AFL fancies this idea, the cynic in me says that’s because there’s a dollar in it.

Too much on plate
The new federal member for Wentworth Kerryn Phelps is challenging the political system. She is obviously a very capable woman but trying to juggle being a federal politician holding the balance of power, plus being a Sydney City Councillor and medical practitioner at the same time sends a clear statement that this country is over governed, or the average voter just does not care.
Just look at the Victorian election campaign which is in full swing which makes me believe that it is time that compulsory voting was stopped. The quality of the campaign has been disgraceful with the majority of promises that are being made will not be kept without major borrowing and there has been absolutely no vision for the future.
The major issues of today are energy security and costs (one of the most expensive in the world, which makes no sense when we export gas and coal), out of control immigration (no plans for them when they arrive), outdated infrastructure and future housing (people driving in excess of two hours a day is now common and there is no alternate vision except for building more roads).
