Billy Andrew moved from defence to on-ball last year.
“Our aim was to get him through the midfield,” coach James Hazelton said.
“In 2017, he probably played half and half, he filled a few holes for us.
“But this year he made a pretty big impression and had his best year without a doubt.”
The 22-year-old is quick and skilful, but also has the ability to burrow in and win the ball as he looks to play the higher standard.
“Yeah, that’s the main reason and playing with some good players at Yarrawonga like Tyler Bonat, Mark Whiley and Xav Leslie and try and learn a few tricks I guess and I’ll be playing quality players every week,” he said.
Meantime, the Barooga coach says Wodonga Raiders’ recruit Brodie A’Vard will make an impact.
“He got better and better, his ruckwork has always been good, but I reckon his work around the ground has improved the last two years.”
