The auction conducted by agents Stean Nichols at Mantra Albury plenty of interest, but only one bid of $3 million fell short of the reserve and the property remained unsold.
The nearby Bendigo Bank building in Dean Street and the First Choice liquor barn have sold at auction this year along with the Good Buys building on “rollover corner” and level one of Florin House in Smollett Street.
Members of the Sawyer family who have owned the building for almost 40 years were in attendance at the auction.
Meanwhile, the former Allied Mills property on Young Street in Albury has been sold with Albury Council emerging as the obvious purchaser of the site.
It is located next door to the former Bunnings building with council considering a development application for its change of use on Monday night.
