In a great coup for Commercial Golf Resort Albury, Matt Millar is coming off a tie for third in the $1.5 million Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines.

That came just a fortnight after a tie for fifth in the $1.25 million Australian Open.

“2015 was a pretty awesome year as well, but the last two months has been right up there, so, arguably, yes (it is career-best form) I suppose,” he said.

Millar won the New Zealand PGA three years ago, a year in which he made changes after losing his Australasian Tour card.

“If you play for a living, you can be a little bit tentative, a little bit afraid and the game doesn’t lend itself to that,” he said.

“So sometimes it can be easier to talk yourself out of playing well than it is to talk yourself into playing well.

“In ‘15, I completely flipped my attitude and backed myself.”

The Border’s Zach Murray will also contest the pro-am after finishing equal 40^th in the PGA, picking up $7695.
