Lawrence Krause, 58, was already on a community corrections order for child pornography offences when officers raided his Kaitlers Road home on November 14.
Police had attended to speak to him about his reporting obligations and he allowed them into the property.
The officers spoke to Krause and he said he was in the process of sorting through his old electronic devices and destroying them.
He freely gave officers access to the devices, which were taken away for further examination.
The 58-year-old was arrested later that day after graphic stories involving children were discovered.
“The children depicted in these stories appear to be between the ages of 10 and 16 and to be involved in rape, torture and bondage scenarios,” police said.
A search of other items, including his Ford Territory, failed to find any other child abuse material.
During his interview at the Albury Police Station, Krause admitted he knew about the content found on the seized property, and knew it amounted to child porn.
Krause has made numerous prior appearances before court for similar offending.
Police fear he poses a threat to the community given his propensity to re-offend.
He has also been found loitering in places frequented by children, including McDonald's and coffee shops, police said.
He appeared before Albury Local Court on Monday and will return for sentence on February 7.
