An Albury-raised make-up artist and hairdresser has been recognised for her work on the Australian film Ladies In Black.

Beth Halsted, who attended St Patrick’s Parish School and Albury High School, won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award for Best Hair and Make-Up on Monday with colleagues Jen Lamphee and Anna Gray.

The trio was chosen over nominees from Cargo, Upgrade and Winchester.
Now based in Sydney, Ms Halsted has worked in the entertainment industry for nine years, getting her first break doing make-up for television’s Underbelly: Razor.
“I feel incredibly lucky to be doing what I love for a job,” she said on her website.
Her other recent credits include the television series Secret City as well as movies like Pacific Rim: Uprising, Bleeding Steel and Palm Beach.
Directed by Bruce Beresford, Ladies In Black describes life in a prestigious Sydney department store in the late 1950s.
The AACTA awards industry luncheon was held in Sydney ahead of the second awards ceremony on Wednesday.
