The unit in the Coles supermarket car park near Urana Road has been shutdown to allow repairs to be done to the damaged surface.
Property manager Michelle Jones, of Stean Nicholls, said that Return and Earn contractor TOMRA would bankroll the bitumen work around the machine.
“It became a bit of a safety issue because all the Cleanaway trucks were coming in there four to five times a day and ripping up the car park,” Ms Jones said.
The work is due to begin on Thursday and continue on Friday with the container deposit machine expected to re-open next week.
The machine has taken in more than 4.2 million containers since opening in May.
Other damage in the car park, caused by machinery used to upgrade the facade of the supermarket and specialty shops, has been fenced off and is expected to be fixed in the new year.
