Crime statistics released on Wednesday show theft from motor vehicle offences were recorded at 2.2 times the NSW average in the year to September.
There were 568 such offences recorded in that period, up from 552 for the previous 12 month period.
Car thefts were recorded at 1.5 times the state average.
Police have regularly reminded car owners to lock their vehicles in a bid to combat such offending.
