They have reeled off eight straight wins with fourth-placed Walbundrie being the only side to apply any sort of pressure
HOLBROOK
(8 wins, 0 losses, 48 points)
The Brookers look to have the chasing pack well and truly covered.
They have reeled off eight straight wins with fourth-placed Walbundrie being the only side to apply any sort of pressure.
In a sign of the ladder leader’s depth, Holbrook doesn’t have a runscorer in the association’s top-10 with Hayden Wishart coming in at No.18 with 172 runs.
Will Heriot and Andrew Mackinlay have made strong returns from CAW provincial and skipper Hamish Mackinlay continues to lead from the front.
OSBORNE
(6 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie, 39 points)
Osborne has recaptured last year’s premiership winning form with victories over Rand and Walbundrie in recent weeks.
Ed Perryman has emerged as the premier all-rounder in the competition with 252 runs and nine wickets while fellow youngster Billy Glanvill has made the trek from Wagga and is bowling well.
Shape as Holbrook’s main danger in the second half of the season.
RAND
(6 wins, 2 losses, 36 points)
Last year’s Brocklesby and District premier continues to motor along nicely.
They have lost to only Holbrook and Osborne with the Kreutzbergers and Swifts doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
Gearing up for a crucial game against neighbours Walbundrie on Saturday.
WALBUNDRIE
(5 wins, 2 losses, 1 tie, 33 points)
The competition’s surprise packet has stormed up the ladder on the back of some clever recruiting.
Nick Morris, Scott Montgomery, Jarrod Millar and Alex McMaster have made an immediate impact in the top-order.
Damian Wardius has led the way with the ball, taking 15 wickets at 14.
WALLA
(4 wins, 2 losses, 2 ties, 30 points)
The Hoppers have recovered from a slow start to be firmly entrenched in the top six at the halfway mark of the season.
Remarkably, they had ties in successive weeks.
Tom Simmons and Mark Taylor have been given extra support with Michael Linklater joining the club from Corowa.
CULCAIRN
(3 wins, 5 losses, 18 points)
Culcairn pinched sixth spot with a win over Burrumbuttock last weekend and face a crucial clash against Walla on Saturday.
Steve Brand has maintained his high standards with 354 runs at 50 while Vince Chaffey has also been solid with 205 runs.
Need to keep winning to stay ahead of TRYC and Henty.
TRYC
(2 wins, 6 losses, 12 points)
After losing their first four matches, TRYC has hit back strongly on the back of big runs from Todd Hannam and Jack Driscoll.
Hannam leads the league aggregate with 370 runs, including four 50s, while Driscoll has provided good support.
An upset win over Holbrook on Saturday would be invaluable.
HENTY
(2 wins, 6 losses, 12 points)
Henty hasn’t been able to get its act together with the consistent shuffling of sides.
The absence of opening bowler Chris Manns has hit hard while Mark White and Braeden Pantling need more support in the top-order.
The evenness of the competition has kept Henty in the mix for sixth spot.
LOCKHART
(2 wins, 6 losses, 12 points)
Lockhart has probably exceeded expectations in its return to A grade cricket by posting wins against Burrumbuttock and Henty.
Wagga recruit Brad McMillan has given the club a shot of confidence with the top-order batsman singlehandedly sinking the Swampies.
Experienced campaigner Clint Renner continues to hold his own with the bat and ball.
BURRUMBUTTOCK
(0 wins, 8 losses, 0 points)
You have got to feel for the Swans.
After being a power in the Brocklesby and District competition for several years, the departure of three key players to CAW provincial ranks has hurt them dearly.
Rebuilding year with youth.
