Former deputy prime minister Tim Fischer is the new patron of Border vocal group, Murray Conservatorium Choir.
Mr Fischer, who is battling leukaemia, plans to attend the first of the choir’s three Christmas concerts this weekend with the permission of his doctors.
The choir sings at Zion Lutheran Church Walla on Friday at 7.30pm and will also perform at St Matthew’s Albury Saturday at 7.30pm and St John’s Wodonga Sunday at 2.30pm.
“There is always something uplifting about the choir’s Christmas concert, especially in the Zion church setting in Walla,” Mr Fischer said.
“The night will be timely for me after a difficult season.
“This year’s concert will be a combination of the rare and thoughtful plus the old faithfuls.”
The choir patron urged people to support the three Murray Conservatorium Choir performances.
