The 18-year-old woman was eventually airlifted to Sydney’s St George Hospital after being treated by paramedics at a home and then staff at Wagga Base Hospital last week.

According to police, paramedics were called to an Ashmont address around 1.30pm on Monday, December 3.

When they arrived, they found the young woman with a pair of scissors embedded in the top of her skull. They were unable to be removed and she was taken to hospital.

The woman had asked her partner for a pair of scissors, police said, and he allegedly threw them at her.

She ducked and covered her face, but the missile hit the top of her head and became stuck in her skull.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at Tumut police station on Monday, December 10, around 5pm.

He has been charged with reckless wounding and was refused bail to appear at Wagga Local Court on Tuesday. 

Police say the injured woman appears to be in good health after her treatment and inquiries are continuing.
