The bubbly working mum of two adorable daughters, Marlie, 5, and Amelia, 2, runs flourishing floral business The Real Florist.
She aims to put “a little piece of my heart” into every arrangement and is at a point in her life where giving back to her community has become an integral part of her life focus.
It’s one of the reasons Renee has offered to run a three-hour wreath-making masterclass on Sunday December 16 at Pour Mes Amis in Albury from 1pm to 4pm with all proceeds to go to Restart Albury Wodonga.
Renee felt compelled to act after attending a fundraiser for the volunteer group, which supports people in the community experiencing homelessness and hardship.
A personal story from the charity’s president touched a chord with the busy florist who has also experienced heart-breaking challenges of her own in recent times.
The birth of her second baby brought those torments to the surface and necessitated some serious soul-seaching and self-help strategies.
“(Tara’s) reasons for getting involved in the organisation and the road that led her there … I could relate to,” Renee said.
“This year has been one of growth, change and empowerment for my life.”
In building her own business, Renee realised what she did was therapy.
“This is what I love to do,” she stated simply.
“I now spend more time with my kids and my husband and made a world for myself that I love.
“I decided to give back to my community when ever I can as that makes my heart full.”
There are still places left in the workshop, which will teach participants how to create a stunning floral table or door wreath to display this festive season.
Felicity Cahill, from Felicity Cahill Makeup Artistry, will also be on hand to offer fabulous make-up tips with a particular focus on the right Christmas “look”.
Meanwhile Pour Mes Amis will also donate 20 per cent of its sales on the day to Restart.
Renee is excited about the opportunity to pass on her skills in the art of flower arranging but the event is about so much more than that.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to share in the spirit of the festive season.
Participants are also being encouraged to donate much-needed essential household items to Restart in exchange for a free goodies bag.
“I truly believe the gift of giving is the best gift of all!” Renee said.
