Former teen rocker and Killing Heidi front-woman Ella Hooper will return to the North East on Saturday, for a one-off intimate, other-worldly gig hosted her former Benalla classmate, turned Wodonga clairvoyant, Erin O’Leary.

The eclectic and intimate show was organised through Parlour Gigs, a platform which connects artists with hosts for lounge room or backyard gigs.
Miss O’Leary, who runs Mystic Pixie as a psychic medium and usui reiki master, said Hooper would perform a mix of Killing Heidi songs and solo releases including her new single To The Bone from 7pm on Saturday.
“It’s really exciting, there will be a really good blend of music and I know she loves a good chat and to share her knowledge,” she said.
“Generally it should be very cool experience.”
Hooper first entered the national consciousness, at just 13, when Killing Heidi won Triple J’s 1996 unearthed competition with their song Kettle.
The band won four aria awards in 2000 before splitting up in 2006 and reuniting in 2016.
Hooper’s latest song, To the Bone, was released in July and was described as a game changer for the singer.
“To The Bone came out of a late night jam with my band, I wanted something I could really get down and dance to,” she said at the time.
“I wanted to press pause on the soul-searching indie rock for a minute and get kinetic and put some fire and energy out there again.
“I was feeling really fed up, totally over certain people, expectations and constraints and just blurted out some key phrases that made me feel empowered and powerful, reckless even.”
The Border gig will be hosted at Mystic Pixie’s premises in High Street Wodonga.

“Ironically enough it’s an old music studio,” Miss O’Leary said.
“We’ve got lots of antique furniture, rugs, scented candles, cushions – it’s a very cozy space.
“If you imagine a mystic pixie environment you won’t be disappointed.”
Miss O’Leary first met the Killing Heidi front-woman at Benalla high school where the pair were both outsiders.
“We met in year nine,” she said. “It was a bird of a feather flock together kind of thing, we were both left of centre with different personalities and similar interests.”
The gig will be the first music event held at Mystic Pixie since it opened two months ago, with Miss O’Leary saying she was proud to support live music in the region.
Only 55 tickets, of which about half have already sold, will be available for the intimate gig.
