It was a proposal that was hard to miss, but even with her partner of four years’ love illuminated for the whole street to see, Cassandra King still wasn’t entirely sure what was going on.

Arriving home from work late on Saturday night, Miss King, 34, discovered her boyfriend Rodney Deighton, 40, had finished their Christmas lights – complete with a stick figure proposal.
But having previously joked Mr Deighton’s stick figure should be down on one knee, Miss King wasn’t sure the proposal was genuine.
“I didn’t know if he was playing a joke or if it was real,” she said.
Once she realised it was serious Miss King quickly said ‘Yes’.
“I was so elated, just over the moon,” Miss King said.
Each member of the pair’s blended family has a figure in the display, and the six children in on Mr Deighton’s plan.
“They loved it, they said it was ‘hectic’,” he laughed.
Mr Deighton said the proposal was in the works long before Miss King’s joke.
