While vice-president Gerard O’Brien said the association was keen to make the trip to the Border, he said player availability was a concern.
“We’ve got a challenge but we will have a few away,” O’Brien said.
“Hopefully we will be right.
“We won’t be bringing down with a half-baked side because it’s obviously pretty strong in Albury.
“We should know early in the New Year.”
West Wyalong, which was seven clubs, secured the final available challenge on January 13.
It performed admirably in 2016-17 when it held the cup over the winter after defeating Wagga in the final round.
The winner of the CAW and West Wyalong clash will take on Temora on January 20.
CAW has beaten Holbrook and District, Cootamundra and Ardlethan-Barellan.
