The left-hander struck an unbeaten 73 from 62 balls as the home team compiled 6-164.
Simmons was involved in a 75-run stand with opener Ben Paddle for the second wicket and a 64-run partnership with Shane Hansford for the sixth wicket.
He blasted nine fours and a six and now has 437 runs in the two formats.
Albury’s top order, comprising Kade Brown (38), import Aaron Gillespie (22) and Todd Henderson (24) looked capable of causing an upset, but the visitors lost 7-29 to fall short with Brandon Purtell snaring 3-25.
