A crane and machinery were on the scene as the 70-foot structure began to be put into place.
The main bridge over Hodgson’s Creek was badly damaged during December’s flood event when the piles, which support the structure, and road were severely eroded from the force of the water.
Cars have been diverted between Wangaratta and Beechworth on Buckland Gap Road.
RRV has not put a date on the reopening of the road, but was aiming for early in the new year.
