After taking home silver with Victoria at the under-13 outdoor nationals in Tasmania in October, Georgia Martin will now debut for the state’s indoor side against Australia’s best.
The goalkeeper is in Goulburn for the Australian Indoor Hockey Festival from Friday through to Monday.
Martin, 13, plays with the senior women in the Border’s indoor hockey competition in Wodonga during summer and attended trials and weekly training sessions in Melbourne to earn another state call-up.
Her father, Ben, is expecting a tough tournament.
She’s a goalkeeper, so she’ll have plenty of work,” he said.
“It’s definitely a lot faster, it’s nearly the T20 version of hockey.
“It really hones those reflexes, it’s a slightly different discipline, but it helps build her skills for outdoor hockey as well.”

Indoor hockey is played on a smaller pitch, slightly longer than a basketball court and is continuous with sideboards preventing the ball going out of bounds.
“It’s been around for a long time, but hasn’t really been fully recognised,” Ben said.
“It’s played a lot in Europe because it’s a winter sport over there.
“They stop the outdoor season and switch to indoor while it’s snowing.”
Victoria faces NSW Lions in the opening game of the tournament on Friday.
