MAMA will host a free children’s workshop Plastic Fantastic! on January 18.

MAMA public programs officer Sophie Holvast said children aged 7 to 12 could get creative with plastic waste and make a mini version of Plastic Palace, the 6-metre-tall art installation in QEII Square.

She said they could use the plastic waste on hand or bring their own collected over the holidays such as prizes from party bags and bon bons, fast food toys, 2019 New Year’s novelty glasses and other clean plastics. 

“We’re taking a different approach to plastic by considering re-using it,” she said.

“The workshop is extending from Plastic Palace.”

Bookings on (02) 6043 5800 for the workshop, which runs 10.30am to noon.

MAMA will also host school holiday art camps for children aged 5 to 12 on January 16, 17, 23 and 24.

The comprehensive art experience includes guided tours of MAMA's exhibitions, art workshops and outdoor play in QEII Square.

Lunch and snacks are included.

A total of 24 places are available each day but the children will be divided into junior primary and senior primary groups.

Bookings are essential for the camps, which run 10.15am to 3pm.

Wodonga Library’s Pop Culture Club will next meet on Thursday to talk about gaming, manga, board games and fandom.

Meet up with like-minded people aged 18 to 25.

It’s held on the second Thursday of the month between 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Lavington Library will host a range of free creative workshops this month.

Children aged 7-plus can create a curious creature from rolling coloured strips of paper using a quilling wand on January 15.

Bookings are essential for the workshop, which runs 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

The library will also host a jewellery-making workshop on January 16.

Children aged 8-plus can learn to make their own jewellery at The Cats Pyjamas Jewellery Workshops with Kurt Saggers.

Albury’s Retro Youth Cafe will host a movie night for youth on January 18.

Fifteen to 25-year-olds can kick back on bean bags for a double feature from 6pm.
